Use a sulphate-free, colour-safe shampoo, wash in cooler water, and book a gloss or toner top-up when it starts to fade. We’ll recommend exactly what suits your colour.

Aftercare
Every 6–10 weeks keeps most styles looking their best, but we’ll tailor it to your hair type and how you like to wear it.
We’ll only ever recommend what genuinely suits your hair — never a hard sell. Ask us at your appointment and we’ll talk you through it.
Porosity describes how your hair absorbs and retains moisture, and knowing yours helps us choose the right products and treatments.
High porosity hair absorbs water quickly, dries fast, and is often frizzy, with colour that can fade faster and look uneven. Low porosity hair takes a long time to get fully wet, resists absorbing products, and can feel heavy with product build-up.
Porosity affects colour results, moisture levels, product selection, treatment choice and colour longevity. Understanding it helps us deliver better, longer-lasting results.
Booking & appointments
We’re appointment-only. The quickest way is to book online or send us a message — we’ll confirm your slot, and a small booking fee secures it.
Not usually — being appointment-only means every client gets unhurried, one-to-one time. Message us and we’ll find you the next available slot.
Life happens — just give us as much notice as you can so we can offer the slot to someone else. Repeated late cancellations may affect the booking fee on future appointments.
Yes — there’s free parking nearby on Bennetthorpe. If it’s your first visit and you’re not sure where to go, message us and we’ll point you the right way.
Colour
Colour appointments vary depending on hair length, thickness, existing colour, desired result, time required, the number of colour applications, and any toners or treatments needed.
A simple root retouch requires significantly less product and time than a full balayage or colour transformation.
Absolutely — photos help us understand the colours you like. We’ll always explain what’s realistically achievable based on your current hair.
Usually yes, but box dye can behave unpredictably. Book a quick consultation first so we can check your hair and plan the safest route to the colour you want.
It depends on your hair and the result — anywhere from around 1.5 hours to 4+ hours for bigger transformations. We’ll always give you a realistic time when you book.
Not everyone does. Toners are only used where needed to perfect your colour and achieve the desired finish.
Yes — it’s one of our specialisms. Colour that’s gone wrong elsewhere is very fixable, but it may take more than one session. We’ll always be honest about what’s realistic for your hair.
A skin test is essential before any colour service — it protects you from allergic reactions, even if you’ve coloured your hair before, as skin can develop sensitivities over time.
You’ll need one:
- Before your first colour appointment at LeeLou HQ
- Whenever you switch to a new colour brand or formula
- After a long break from colouring
For certain colour services we’ll ask you to pop in for a quick patch test at least 48 hours beforehand. It’s a small step that keeps you safe.
We apply a small amount of colour to your skin, usually behind your ear or on your inner arm, and you’ll leave it for 48 hours to check for any reaction such as redness or itching.
It’s a quick step that protects against allergic reactions and gives peace of mind for both you and your stylist.
Colour correction is one of our specialist services, and every correction is completely bespoke. It can include:
- Removing unwanted tones
- Correcting uneven colour
- Removing box dye
- Fixing banding
- Colour changes, including returning blonde to brunette
- Correcting previous salon work
- Removing fashion colours
Colour correction requires advanced knowledge, multiple formulations, extra products, longer appointments, constant monitoring and often additional treatments. Every correction is different, so pricing is always discussed during your consultation.
We’ll always aim to achieve your goal while protecting the health of your hair. Sometimes this means several appointments rather than risking unnecessary damage.
Consultation & Pricing
Every client’s hair is unique, so prices can vary depending on the time, products and techniques required. Two people booking the same service may need completely different amounts of work.
Factors that affect price include:
- Hair length
- Hair density (how much hair you have)
- Hair thickness
- Previous colour history
- Hair condition
- The amount of product required
- The time needed to safely achieve your desired result
During your consultation we’ll discuss your hair goals, current hair routine, any previous colours or chemical treatments, your styling habits, your budget and long-term maintenance.
We may also assess your hair’s elasticity, porosity, health and scalp condition.
You’ll receive honest advice and a bespoke treatment plan designed specifically for your hair.
Healthy hair always comes first, and some colour changes simply cannot be achieved safely in one visit.
If necessary, we’ll create a step-by-step plan to reach your desired result while keeping your hair in the best possible condition.
Curly Hair
We welcome all curl patterns, from 2A to 4C.
Yes — curly hair is assessed differently to straight hair. We consider your curl pattern, shrinkage, density, styling routine and lifestyle, so we can create a cut that works naturally with your curls.
Cuts & styling
Absolutely — curls, coils, waves, straight or fine. Every texture is welcome and in expert hands.
Please do — photos are the best way to show us what you’re after. We’ll always tell you honestly what’s achievable for your hair.
Yes — blow-dries, up-dos and occasion styling for weddings, events, or just because. Book early for big dates.
Inclusive & access
Yes. Appointment-only means no crowds and no rush, and we can arrange quieter times for extra privacy. Whatever makes it easier for you, just ask.
Always. Bring whoever you need with you — we’ll make sure you both feel completely at ease.
We welcome children of all ages, and every appointment is adapted to suit the individual child.
That’s completely normal — we work at your child’s pace and never rush the appointment. Building confidence is just as important as achieving a haircut.
Where possible we can reduce sensory stimulation, allow extra time, explain each stage, offer breaks, adapt our communication and work entirely at your pace.
Autism-friendly appointments are capped at 20 minutes. If your child has needs that may take the appointment beyond this, a small fee applies for every 15 minutes over — this ensures we never need to rush, stay in line with health & safety requirements, and cover the stylist’s time.
That’s okay — we never force a haircut. Sometimes building trust over several visits leads to the best long-term outcome.
Keratin Treatments
Keratin treatments typically last between 4 and 6 months, provided the recommended aftercare products are used and heat styling is done responsibly.
Not always. While keratin treatments can transform frizzy, coarse or wavy hair, they’re not ideal for very fine or fragile hair prone to breakage, severely damaged or over-processed hair, or hair that’s had recent chemical relaxers or perms.
They work best on medium to thick hair that’s frizzy or puffy, naturally wavy hair looking for smoother definition, loose to moderately curly textures, and hair prone to humidity-induced frizz. During your consultation we’ll review your hair’s health and elasticity to see if keratin is the safest and most effective option for you.
Treatments
Treatments are only ever recommended where they’ll genuinely benefit your hair — we never suggest anything unnecessary. Depending on your hair, we may recommend:
- Steam hydration — gently opens the hair cuticle to allow deeper absorption of moisture and nutrients
- Bond repair — strengthens broken internal bonds from chemical processing, heat styling or environmental damage
- Protein reconstruction — rebuilds the hair’s internal structure where elasticity or strength is compromised
- Moisture therapy — restores hydration to dry, brittle or porous hair
- Deep conditioning — intensive nourishment for texture, shine and resilience
- Scalp treatments — rebalances and soothes the scalp for healthy hair growth
- Hard water build-up removal — removes mineral deposits that leave hair dull or heavy
- Hair lamination — for frizz-prone hair, added to any cut, finish or colour service, reducing frizz and humidity for up to 3 washes
Healthy hair accepts colour more evenly and holds onto it for longer. When hair is in better condition, colour penetrates more consistently from root to tip — meaning fewer patchy areas, truer tones and a more natural-looking result that fades more gracefully over time.
Before recommending any treatment or service, we carry out a professional scalp analysis, checking for dryness, oiliness, flaking, sensitivity, product build-up and overall scalp condition.
If we ever feel a concern would benefit from medical guidance, we’ll let you know calmly and recommend you see your GP or a dermatologist before we proceed.
Still not sure? We’re happy to talk it through before you book.
